Fish For Free Day in PA!

May 30th !

By Jennifer P May 24, 2011

Grab a rod and reel and join other anglers for the Pennsylvania Boat and Fish Commission's Fish for Free day on May 30th.  No license is required for fishing on this day (but other regulations, such as fish size, are still in effect).  This is a fun way to introduce your child to the joy of fishing.

To properly enjoy this day, you'll need a few items:  Rod, reel, fishing line, tacklebox with sinkers, hooks, etc.  The great news is that many department stores or sporting good stores have packages already setup for a relatively low cost.  You'll also need some bait...you can buy this at many area convenience stores or you can go out and dig up some night crawlers from your own yard.

Aside from rod and reel, you'll also want to bring some other items when you start your adventure.

Hat
First Aid Kit
Cold Drinks
Sunscreen
Bug Repellent

Once you have all that, head to your favorite stream and give it a try!  Showing your children what the outdoors has to offer could inspire a lifelong love of fishing.
