Beauty and the Beast, the dramatic story made famous by the fairytale by Charles Perrault, will be presented by the Carnegie Performing Arts Center at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie. Beauty, the daughter of a count who has lost his fortune, takes her father’s place as hostage in the dreaded palace of the beast. There, she learns that beauty is only skin-deep and that the terrible beast will die without her love.

The character of Beauty is acted by Jamie Pachuta of Pittsburgh who attends Pittsburgh Obama School and who recently won a first place in the 78th Annual Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science competition. The dreaded Beast is portrayed by Marc Guantonio of Monaca. Featured performers include Briana Mroz and Karlee Kovacs of Carnegie, Caroline Kellogg of New Galilee and Jamie Ranalli of Pittsburgh. A play set in the palace of the Beast features the tale of One Thousand and One Nights illuminating the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Portraying Scheherazade will be Melina Kennelly of Pittsburgh while the poor woodcutter Ali Baba is played by Emily Lewis of West Sunbury.

The children's play travels through the mysterious castle of the Beast as storybook characters come to life. The Count travels to far off Venice to find out the fate of his ill-fated ship and Beauty is a willing hostage to save her beloved father. The timeless adventure of Beauty and the Beast
is brought to life on Friday, April 13, Saturday, April 14, and Sunday, April 15 at the Andrew Carnegie Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8 P.M. and Sundays at 2 P.M. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and children and are available at the door.
