A couple of months ago I started taking an adult karate class at Imperial Dragon Tang Soo Do. Mostly because I am turning 40 and decided it would be a great time to pick up a highly physical sport with my less than highly physically fit body. Why didn't I see the break in the logic on that one?
I know you are on the edge of your seats wondering how it's been going!
I am here to tell you that I LOVE IT!!!!!
I still can't remember all the moves and I still hate to walk in the doors every single time (because I do not like not being good at something and I don't like looking like an idiot either...both of which happen any time you try something new).
But I go.
And I feel like an idiot.
And I feel slow.
These guys...and yes they are all still men there with the exception of the wonderfully talented and extremely kind instructor and another high ranking black belt.....kick about 30 times faster than my eyes can even focus.
But you know what? I don't care. Because I am doing it. I am out of my comfort zone completely. I am not the best. I am the worst....maybe in the history of karate...but I love it.
I get exercise, some ME time, and I am learning potentially life-saving skills. You can't beat it!
So I am going to extend an invitation again....
JOIN ME! You will love it!
It's FREEEEEEEE to try it for a month. FREEE!!!!!!!! For a month! That is 2 classes a week at an hour each class. They are from 8-9 pm Mondays and Wednesdays.
I know you are looking around now for stuff to do with the kids over the summer. Why not put yourself on that priority list as well? When did it stop being important for us to have some fun and expand our horizons?
I know ....sometime about that last push before the first kid popped into the world!
Let's get some of that back. Some fun in our lives. Something that doesn't involve the kids every single minute of every single day.
