Painting Bread

LUNCH BOX SERIES AS SEEN KDKA PITTSBURGH TODAY LIVE

By Christine LaGrosse of Macaroni Kid Pittsburgh LLC August 28, 2012
Looking for a way to jazz up your lunches?  I bet you are wondering how to make your sandwich into a work of art?  SURE YOU ARE!!

I found such a simple way to liven up any bread and it doesn’t alter the taste at all.

This is a fun craft to do with your kids or FOR them and surprise them in their lunches one day!

SUPPLIES:  Milk, food coloring, clean paint brushes, bread, toaster and your imagination
STEP 1:
Mix food coloring and milk.  (I used just a few tablespoons of milk because it doesn’t take much)

STEP 2:
Paint your bread using your milk and food coloring mixture just as you would paint!  I wanted to speed up the process, so I used one paint brush for each color.
STEP 3:
Toast each piece of bread after you’ve painted it. This makes the colors even more vibrant and “cooks” the milk so it isn’t soggy in the least!!  Now that is a work of art any parent would be proud to serve their children... move over Picasso!
