West Allegheny Kindergarten Registration Begins January 4
The West Allegheny School District will begin accepting registration either by telephone or Internet for the kindergarten class of 2011-2012 on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, starting at 10:00 a.m. for all elementary schools. No in-person registrations will be taken. Since the district can accept only one registration per child, parents must choose either the telephone or the Internet option, not both.
Parents may register by telephone (724-213-1010 for Donaldson, 724-693-8451 for McKee, 724-695-3300 for Wilson) OR online at www.westasd.org by selecting the Kindergarten Registration link. Parents may request the morning or afternoon session on a first-come, first-served basis and will be notified if their child is assigned to morning or afternoon by the end of June. Callers must speak to an office staff member and cannot leave a message to register their child for kindergarten.
To enter kindergarten, a child must be five years old before September 1, 2011. There are no exceptions to this policy. The following information is needed for registration: parents’ names, address, and phone number as well as the child’s name and date of birth.
Registrants will be notified regarding the Kindergarten Orientation dates and will be sent the necessary forms via mail. At that time, parents will be required to present a record of the child’s immunizations, original birth certificate, completed physical and dental examination forms, and original proof of residency in the district. Residency must be established through proof of home ownership, rental lease, affidavit, or driver’s license with current address.
Parents are reminded that students must attend the school that serves their residence, not the residence of a babysitter, the location of a child care provider, etc.
