Celebrate the Season With Ohio Township on December 7th!

Ohio Township's Tree Lighting Celebration

November 29, 2021

SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!

Everyone's invited to the Ohio Township Community Park for the Tree Lighting Celebration!  Festivities take place on Tuesday, December 7th, with activities starting at 5:30pm.

Areas around the park will be decked out with lights and decorations for a truly memorable night.

Scenic Horse Drawn Carriage Rides will be available from 5:30-8:30pm.

Enjoy festive Ice Carving Shows by Master Ice Carver Richard Bubin of Ice Creations (first show starting at 6pm).

FOOD AND DRINKS:

Steve and Benny's Chicken Shack will be selling delicious food, and Urban Trail Coffee Co. will be selling warm holiday drinks!

OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Tree Lighting: This year's tree lighting will take place under the park's pavilion between 7:00 and 7:15pm. One lucky child will be selected to light up the night!

Santa Claus: Our special guest of the night will arrive by police escort when the lights are lit!

Tree Lit Nature Trail: Local boy scout and girl scout groups will be transforming our Nature Trail into a festive display by decorating trees along the path!  Trees will be lit up for the night, and decorated in different themes chosen by the scouts.

StoryWalk & StoryTime: Our friends at Sewickley Public Library (SPL) will have a special Holiday StoryWalk on display on the Nature Trail.  The book, Bear Stays Up For Christmas by Karma Wilson, will be up through Christmas, with its debut at the Tree Lighting Celebration!

Librarians from SPL will also be hosting holiday read-a-louds under the new pergola near the Nature Center until 8pm.  In addition to reading your favorite holiday children's books, they'll have crafts, stickers and book giveaways for participating families that drop by!

Kids visiting Santa will receive a candy cane and a custom-made ornament commemorating the night, while supplies last.

All activities are free of charge except the food/drink vendors. We'll be helping the Ohio Township Volunteer Fire Company collect toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, so please consider bringing a new and unwrapped toy to the event and help bring joy to others in need this Christmas.
