WQED Education Presents Third Season of award-winning Digital Vignettes

November 17, 2022

WQED Education expands its offerings to students, parents and teachers with the third season of the innovative and fun digital series, Cartoon Academy with Joe Wos. This award-winning video series was created in collaboration with WQED Education and WQED Production to support the Pennsylvania Department of Education’s “Learning Neighborhoods” initiative.

In October 2022, Cartoon Academy was recognized with two regional Emmy® Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Mid-Atlantic Chapter in the categories of Education/Schools Short Form Content and Talent/Host.

Hosted by Pittsburgh-based cartoonist Joe Wos, each six-to-nine-minute episode will take viewers of all ages through the creative steps of drawing cartoon characters while sharing tips on developing skill, artistic terms, and educational facts about the characters. Season three focuses on the topics of Outer Space, Under the Sea and Dinosaurs. Learning resources, including lesson plans, extension activities and coloring sheets accompany each episode.

This new season will be released digitally throughout November, December and January on WQED’s YouTube channel and at www.wqed.org/cartoonacademy, with a television broadcast marathon on WQED-TV of all nine episodes of season three planned for Sunday, February 5, 2023, beginning at 12pm.
