Here are some Macaroni Kid suggestions for random acts of kindness to celebrate MLK day. It keeps Martin Luther's message simple and it's easy to do with your children. Let's see what you can do today for others!
1. tape a quarter to a gumball/candy machine or insert the quarter and leave
2. hand out candycanes outside of a busy store
3. give a cup of coffee to the salvation army bell ringer
4. bring flowers to an unmarked grave
5. write a note of appreciation to someone anonymously
6. clip coupons and leave them around the store near the items
7. pay for two Christmas trees if you still don't have one -- the next person that comes will be paid in full.
8. give flowers to a hospital patient who has had no visitors
9. put a quarter in a parking meter that has expired
10. babysit for a parent that might need to get their holiday "busy" done
11. leave inspirational post it notes where they might be found
12. hand a scratch off lottery ticket to a cashier
13. shovel a neighbors walk if it snows/ /cut his or her lawn
14. take your neighbors garbage cans in after trash day
15. donate blood
16. take beds, blankets, toys, treats to local humane shelter
17. leave a bag of quarters at a laundromat with a note
18. tape a bag of popcorn to a redbox
19. stand and collect holiday shoppers grocery carts for an hour as they load their car
20. leave a gift card in your favorite book or children's book at the library
21. volunteer your time with an organization
22. let someone cut in line in front of you
23. pay for someone behind you at the drive thru
24. get an extra newspaper for someone in the coffee shop
25. leave 20 friends compliment posts on their FB or twitter
26. write a letter to a teacher who had an impact on your life
