Footsteps and Candy Craft

As Seen on KDKA!

By Christine LaGrosse June 12, 2012

My husband is an amazing Father that I also wrack my brain to try to come up with something that will show him how much we appreciate all he does for his family! I am so excited this year to have come up with a gift that I believe does just that!!  I enlisted the help of a wonderfully talented photographer, Amanda Collinsworth. My mission was to capture my kids wearing their Dad’s shoes!  These aren’t just any shoes though… my husband was in the Army and served in Iraq and I wanted a picture of my kids in his Army boots.  It’s very important to me that my kids know what a hero their Daddy is!!  One of my husband’s other passions growing up was dancing and Julia is pictured in his tap shoes.   The pictures turned out better than I could have imagined and the results of this project are amazing.

SUPPLIES:
Daddy’s shoes

Frame

“Following in Your Steps” print out (I just printed in black and white but I’m sure you can use colored paper or even scrapbook paper if you want a fancier look.)

PROCEDURE:

Put the kiddos in Daddy’s shoes and snap away!
Put the pictures in a frame with the wording in one slot and bring out the tissues!

I figured after the emotional picture gift, a little chocolate was in order!  Julia knows her Daddy loves Reese’s Pieces and when we were in line at the check-out at Target she asked if we could buy him some.  I wanted to come up with a cute way to display them so I used a glass bottle that had my cold Starbucks coffee in it (also purchased at the check-out at Target).  I simply took the label off the glass and cleaned the inside and outside and poured in the candy. I made a cute sign for the outside and in no time at all, have a yummy and cute treat for Daddy!!
