For more information on the above programs, visit www.visitPAparks.com. Paddles are geared for beginner paddlers. Must be at least 12 years of age. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Historic Oil Well Operation

Come and see the abandoned turn of the century oil well and pumping engine that have been restored to working order. The well will operate from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The central powerhouse site is located beyond the Forestry & Regional office building on Park Rd. (Old 422) off Route 528.
Bats in Action

2012 has been declared international year of the bat! Meet the park naturalist at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on route 528 to see a bat condo in action and explore the wonders of these nighttime insectivores. Bring blankets, chairs and bug protection.

Moraine State Park has several GPS units that will be available to participants to use during the program.
Lake Arthur Regatta

South Shore
Live entertainment, water, air, and land events, craft and food vendors, children’s activities such as LEGO® building contest and Smokey Bear, “Puddle Ducks” – homemade sailboats, canoe, kayaks, paddleboards and sailboat races, are just of few of the fun activities to experience at this year’s Regatta. There are even Saturday night fireworks over the lake! Music performances both afternoons. Donations are accepted, but the admission and parking are FREE. Historic Gristmill Hours
The Historic Gristmill at McConnells Mill State Park will now be open on Saturdays & Sundays through October!
McConnell's Mill State Park is a great place for an adventure. There is scenic hiking, whitewater boating and two rock climbing and rappelling areas. The 19th century gristmill is the centerpiece of McConnell’s Mill State Park. Interpretive tours of the historic mill, which last approximately 45 minutes, will be available Saturdays & Sundays at 1:00 and 3:00 pm Additional tours for groups may be scheduled by calling 724 368-3612.

A Taste Of History: Dutch Oven Cooking

Visit the courtyard of the historic gristmill anytime from 12:00-4:00p.m. to see Dutch oven cooking in action.
Historic Bread Baking Class

Location- Program meets at Moraine Outdoor Center- Moraine State Park
Spend a day baking outside over an open fire. Register now for your chance to get your hands in history. Cost of $20 will include use of equipment, class materials, and cost of food. Class will conclude with a personal tour of the Old Gristmill at McConnells Mill. Sign up now, classes fill quickly! Register by calling Park Office at 724-368-8811.
