There’s still time left to celebrate FALL even though winter is fast upon us! We have some FALL is 4 FAMILY suggestions that ARE sure to gather the troops for some fun!
Scarecrow Squad Shindig!
Tis the season for SCARECROWS!
Scarecrow making is a terrific craft project for the whole family to enjoy! You don't need to be a good artist or a good carpenter to make a wonderful scarecrow. You just need some imagination and be willing to have a go!
Gather your favorite friends and families and throw a "SCARECROW BUILDING” get-together in your driveway or front yard!
The host supplies the hay bails and basic supplies and the guests bring clothing to create a family of fall friends!
All you need to do is find some wood or PVC piping and cut to size and make a T. Secure it with duct tape. I love duct tape!
Then just stuff it! If you would like to keep your scarecrow hay dry you can put the hay inside trash bags or grocery store bags before you stuff it into your clothes. You could also use leaves instead of hay if you would like.
Tip alert! Our guys were HUGE! Try using kids' clothes instead and overalls if you have them. Much more manageable and easier to keep up his pants too! Plus it might not scare the neighbors that way!
Paint a face on a pillowcase with some waterproof paint. Let it dry then stuff it!
Put him together with some wires and use some rubberbands at the ends of the arms and legs so his stuffing won't fall out. Stick him in the ground and adjust and you are done. A wonderful memory for the whole family.
And a new friend!
GO CRAZY FOR LEAVES! Leaf Loons!
As long as you have a house full of guests...put them to work and they won't even know it with these leaf scoopers. These suckers sell for about $15 at the big box stores but are free if you have this stuff already hanging around the house.
Little hands magically turn into BIG HUGE MONSTER HANDS when it comes to leaf scooping! The kids will LEAF THIS! WE MEAN LOVE! What a COOL activity to have everyone join in on! Some of my ABSOLUTE hands down best memories are of fall leaf clean up!
Use pie tins and old socks! Glue the socks on the pie tin to create the ultimate leaf gathering tool! You could also use duct tape and gloves. Whatever you have on hand. We do suggest buying the sturdier pie pans though.
Then let the fun begin!
LEAF SCOOPING & JUMPING TAKES UP A TON OF ENERGY--- YOU NEED A GREAT TREAT TO ROUND OUT THE FUN! EVERYONE will be HUNGRY soooo HOW ABOUT.....
Something fun to drink like apple cider in a festive hollowed out apple?
AND A .....SOUP COOKOFF!
Have everyone bring a crock pot of THEIR MOST FAMOUS BEST TASTING SOUP -- and you’ll have a smorgasbord of soup to snarf up and test out.
Each person gets a coin to use for voting purposes-- and votes on their favorite one! HAVE A “coveted” GOLDEN LADEL as a prize and the soup with the most votes wins! But everyone REALLY wins -- with some yummy soup! Actually that's a lie. Losers go home with a full belly and nothing else. The winner gets a trophy.
Some family friends have been doing this for years and it’s always a great FALL HIT and super memory!
AND WHAT’S A PARTY WITHOUT A TREAT? How about even better? A craft AND a treat!
Fall- I- Pops
This is totally fun and the kids will LOVE THIS.
Lifesavers, popsicle stick , some foil and oven and your’e a certified Fall-I- Pop maker. You can apply at the N. Pole even!
Just take some Lifesavers and some craft sticks and stick them on some foil. Arrange them like the picture making sure the 2 middle ones are ON the craft stick and all the others are touching each other. Bake at 250 degrees in a preheated oven for 12 minutes and you are done.
You can put them inside a metal cookie cutter and they will take the shape of the cutter. But they are super cute after they cook even without the cookie cutters. They turn out looking like a circle. A red circle is an apple, an orange one is a pumpkin. Put a half piece of Lifesaver on top of the circle and you have a stem. Tip: if you use a metal cookie cutter spray them with non-stick cooking spray first and do not put the craft sticks on until after you cook it and take the cutters off. Then real quick stick one on there.
LAST, the best Thanksgiving craft EVER!
