Step 1) Order her favorite magazine! Not just the one issue but an entire year. This is where your knowledge of Momma can really shine because not only do you have to know her favorite magazine but you need to know if she prefers a digital copy or real life magazine! If you don’t know or aren’t sure, there is no shame in asking a friend or other family member or put your sleuth hat on and watch her for a while and you can probably figure out her favorites!
Step 2) A do not disturb sign is a must! Not only is it super cute but this can even help get the little ones involved! It also lets Mom know that you realize she doesn’t get a lot of time to herself and by making and using the sign, it help her relax and get some time away without having to ask for it all the time.
Step 3) Sundae Bar! I promise you that even someone with zero artistic ability and only a couple of bucks can make this project. All of the items were from the dollar store except for the “cherry” on the Sunday which are bath oil balls from Pier 1. Supplies: Bath beads (1 color can be any color and white to simulate whipped cream), Poufy bath scrub (4 for $1 at the Dollar Store), Sundae cup, and a Straw! All you have to do is assemble the bath beds in the cup to look like a sundae, put the pout on top and either hot blue gun or use a glue dot to keep the cherry in place! Put the straw in the side and your Mom will have a fabulous bath in a glass!!! The presentation will win her over and this is the only sundae I’ve seen with zero calories… it doesn’t get any better than that!!
Step 4) Homemade scrubs and lip gloss- Although these projects may seem tough, they are so very easy and take no time at all to complete! There are tons of recipes and ideas on-line but I took a few and made my own recipes based on what I had in the house at the time.
Scrub Recipe: 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 cup of white sugar, 4 tablespoons vanilla extract, ½ cup of Olive Oil. All you have to do is mix these ingredients together and put them in a container and you have a fabulous looking and smelling scrub! It’s really that easy!! (Tip: I opted for a plastic container I found at the craft store because I didn’t like the idea of having a glass container in the bath full of oil!! Seemed like an accident waiting to happen!)
Lip Gloss Recipe: Supplies: Kool-aid- any color, Petroleum Jelly, Small containers (I found my containers at the Craft store but I saw some cute colored ones at Wal-mart too!) I put a heaping teaspoon of Vaseline in a microwave safe bowl and heated it at 30 second intervals and stirred between each time. Once it was all melted, I let it cool so it was just slightly warm. I then added almost an entire packed of Kool-aid drink mix! I also saw a ton of recipes which used Crystal Light or other drink mixes but I just used what I had. I stirred, and stirred, and stirred some more until the kool-aid was fully dissolved. Poured it into my containers and I now have some fabulous smelling and tasting lip-gloss!! I decorated the containers with jewels and embellishments I had on hand or a cute note would be just as fabulous!
