I'm a firm believer in swimming lessons as a life-saving skill. Something that's absolutely necessary. Not for fun: as a life-saving skill. I urge you to check out the many opportunities to enroll your child in swim lessons around the West Pittsburgh area! While we have rounded up some free learn to swim options for you, if the times and locations don't work for you, maybe look into some paid classes and consider it an investment.
Allegheny County offers FREE learn to swim classes at all the county swimming facilities taught by the Allegheny County Lifeguards! Ages 6 and up! These free swim lessons will provide instruction based on the American Red Cross guidelines. Children will be grouped according to skill level on the first day of class. 100% attendance is recommended. No certificate is obtained upon completion.

Swimming lessons will be made available to residents of Robinson Township initially with any remaining spots opening to non-residents. Each Learn to Swim session will take place from Monday through Thursday for 2 weeks, with Fridays being utilized as a weather make-up if needed. Register at townshipofrobinson.recdesk.com.

Pre-testing allows your child to be evaluated by our staff prior to registration for learn-to-swim. This helps us to place them in the most developmentally appropriate class.
Time slots will be available in 15-minute beginning each half hour increments. If you have multiple children, they can be scheduled during one time slot. Registration for pre-testing opens May 9

Private Swim Lessons
Private swim lessons with our trained staff will be available to both residents and nonresidents of any age. Participants will receive one-on-one attention from our instructors who will individualize each lesson to meet the specific needs and abilities of each participant.
Private lessons are 30 minutes long and are held at the following times:
Monday-Thursday
11:00AM-11:30AM and 11:30AM-12:00PM
Fridays from 9:00AM-12:00PM with lessons beginning each half hour
1 Lesson $30 Resident/$40 Non-Resident
4 Lessons $100 Resident/$140 Non-Resident
