The art of selecting a fall jacket for kids. By Me.
It's a tricky purchase,this fall jacket.
A fall jacket must adhere to the following in order to be accepted into OUR family:
- Nothing too thin, nothing too bulky. We're not ushering winter in folks. Let's keep it at bay!
- Has to look cool and be the talk of the bus stop. No self respecting 10 year old is going to wear a flaky zip up like we wore. Though I rocked it, it did not keep me warm nor dry. What was it made of anyways? Tissue paper?
- A fall jacket HAS to keep kiddos warm in the brisk air but it can't be so insulated that it makes you sweat while standing at the bus stop. No one wants that.
- This jacket MUST be versatile because our weather here in the Burgh-- quite frankly, is a bit chaotic. A jacket has got to keep up and can't be afraid of wind, sleet,rain or the occasional hurricane and or tornado.
When L.L. Bean asked us to review its brand new "Puff n Stuff" versatile 3-season jacket, I was super excited. First off, the name? pure marketing genius.
What do kids do with their jackets?
Stuff them anywhere and everywhere or lose them.
What jacket look is SUPER POPULAR? Why, puffy jackets.
It's a score all around.
Mady loved her new jacket and sure enough, we broke it out on the 2nd day of FALL. It fits her well and I loved the hood and the gathered base and wrists!

Quality. You cannot beat it. Dollars are worth something to me and while I too look for a bargain…a bargain to me doesn't make sense if (like my 10 year old's lunchbox) it rips mid season.
If we have to sideline a purchase because it wasn't quality in the first place…we lose plain and simple. Time, money and effort.

Like everything L.L. Bean this jacket is such high quality. Well designed and extremely fashionable and "with it." The little girl's "true blue" option that we chose is vibrant and only one of several bright, bold colors for both boys and girls. Take a looksie.
