Feeling crafty? This project is for you. Tom The Thankful Turkey! It's adorable and fairly easy to make craft!
Start with two styrofoam balls. One large for the body and one small for the head. I chose two shades of yarn. I wrapped the body portion in dark yarn and the small head portion, in light yarn.
Then using popsicle sticks or some thin dowel rods or even wooden skewers, I put the body together.
Added some eyes, a paper beak, and a gobbler.
The base was an issue for me. Once together, he kept rolling. So I created a base and covered it in some fabric I had. The base was actually an empty ribbon roll. That completely worked when I hot glued the body to the base.
I added some ribbon feet.
The feathers are just cut out of some extra fabric I had lying around. The paper is card stock and each family member wrote one or two "words of thanks." I glued the back of each to a dowel rod.
Then I simply pushed the dowels into the back of his body.
I had to really push hard, but it eventually went in!
Low cost, high impact. A favorite of ours!
We'll display him at our table this year.
