Want to keep your student from falling into a summer learning slump? Young minds will stay active during the dog days of summer with Carnegie Science Center’s summer camp programs.

From building video games, to making something fabulous with the Fab Lab’s design and prototype machines, to exploring the amazing biology found around Pittsburgh, Carnegie Science Center has your summer covered with awe-inspiring camps that offer themed, action-packed fun.

Inquisitive campers ages 4-14 have a unique chance to investigate careers in science, technology, engineering, and math this summer when they step into the shoes of video game creators, astronomers, scientists, and robotic engineers— to name a few. During each week-long camp, campers will unearth scientific treasures, explore nature, concoct crazy chemistry, help out PBS Kids’ Odd Squad agents, or learn the coding and creation of robots. At Fab Lab Carnegie Science Center, campers will explore “maker” technologies and game design – and even get a chance to build part of a quadcopter!

This summer will also be the first time two-day “Build It!” camp programming will be offered to teens. Campers ages 13-18 who register for an intensive digital fabrication workshop will design and build projects of their choosing. Interested teens are welcome to sign up for more than one camp to build on previous knowledge and create more complex projects.

Science Center camps include access to hundreds of hands-on exhibits, the world-class Buhl Planetarium, a real Cold War submarine, and Highmark SportsWorks®. Science education professionals lead camp activities. In some cases, campers have an opportunity to take scientific field trips. Field trips include Kennywood, visits to working laboratories, even Kayaking on Pittsburgh’s rivers.

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh members enjoy discounted rates. Camp registration fees include all scheduled activities, instruction, supplies and a cool T-shirt! For your convenience, Carnegie Science Center also offers child care before and after summer camp for a nominal fee. Pre-registration is required.
