Mattress Factory to Celebrate Return of Garden Party Weekend

August 2, 2022

After a two-year hiatus, the Mattress Factory is celebrating the return of the annual Garden Party Weekend. The weekend begins with the Garden Party, the Museum's signature fundraising event and one of the hottest parties in Pittsburgh that attracts art collectors, urban professionals, artists, creatives and influencers for a highly anticipated evening of eclectic foods, beverages, entertainment, and of course, art.

The stars have aligned for ZODIAC: Garden Party on Friday, August 12, and the Mattress Factory is hosting an evening of revelries, featuring food and drink from dozens of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants and bars. Expect tarot readings, an art auction and other divinations at stations throughout the party. This esoteric world full of contradictions and mystical visions comes courtesy of Event Architect Thommy Conroy.

The evening’s musical entertainment on the Main Stage will include the likes of multidimensional neo-soul songwriter Clara Kent, party-starters Good Sport, late-night favorite DJ collective Jellyfish, and more. Exclusive performances in the VIP “High Priestess Lounge” include Bjordan and Steel City Kitty.

Doors open at 5:30 PM for VIP and Friend of the Mattress Factory ticket holders, and 7 PM for General Admission. The party will run until 11 PM, and the VIP Lounge will be available from 7 PM – 11 PM. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within the past 48 hours will be required to gain entry. Guests must be 21+.

All proceeds from the Garden Party benefit the Mattress Factory’s artistic programs, exhibitions and education outreach. More information regarding ZODIAC: Garden Party and tickets is available at mattress.org/zodiac.

The fun continues at the all-ages Community Garden Party, where Northside neighbors, as well as families from around the region, enjoy a free day of admission to the Museum, music and numerous hands-on immersive art experiences from 1-5 PM on Sunday, August 14.

This year’s Community Garden Party will include tarot readings with Sarah Mary Ellis, jewelry and accessory-making with Tooth and Bone Jewlery, free real & temp astrology-themed tattoos from Maria Laine, activities from the Northside’s new Moonshot Museum, a pop-up record sale from the Government Center, and DJ sets from Formosa and Wavy Bunch Sound. Various food and drink options will be available for purchase, including a limited-edition Garden Party beer from Mindful Brewing.

While Community Garden Party is free and open to the public, due to pandemic restrictions, timed-entry registration is required to visit the indoor galleries. More information and free registration is available at mattress.org/cgp.
