Did you know that Lowe’s and Home Depot both offer monthly DIY projects and kits for kids? These are great for crafty kiddos and make a fun parent-kid or grandparent-kid date day :) We utilized both of these resources during the pandemic and both of my kids (then ages 4 & 8) enjoyed the process of building; but what’s even more remarkable was the pride they took in telling and showing others what they built.
Home Depot offers FREE Kids Workshops in participating stores on the 1st Saturday of every month from 9am-noon. You can view this month's project and register for an upcoming workshop here.
In addition to their free in-store kids workshops, The Home Depot has an extensive list of projects and activities for kids ranging from virtual field trips to project and inspiration guides. All the projects come with a simple guide to show you up front any tools and materials you may need and many times these items will be ones you already have in the home. If there are supplies you may need, they offer links directly to them if you'd like to pick them up in the store. I love the videos they show for ideas and inspiration. One of my favorite articles is How to Get Kids Into Gardening.

Lowe's also hosts free in-store and online DIY workshops for everyone in participating stores once a month. Your mini DIY'er will be give a kit containing all the materials you need to build a monthly themed project. The first time you pick up your supplies you will also get an apron and safety goggles. Each project you complete comes with an iron on badge for you to put on your apron - my kids love watching the patches add up! The projects are super easy (but do require adult supervision and assistance) and come with everything you need! Oh, did I mention it’s free?! Check our Instagram to see how much fun we have building and subscribe to our free weekly newsletter, so you don't miss your notification to register monthly for your free DIY Kids' Kit.
