The Allegheny County Parks Department today announced the return of its Hometown Hoops Mini-Camps. The basketball mini-camps are for ages 9-18 will be held June 24-August 9 in 10 communities. The 29 basketball mini-camps are free and will take place 10:00 am.-2:30 pm., Monday-Friday, at the locations listed below. A free box lunch will be provided at noon during each mini-camp by the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. Participants may attend as many mini-camps as they like. Proper basketball attire is required.
"I am thrilled to announce the return of our Hometown Hoops program this summer. These mini-camps offer a wonderful opportunity for our youth to engage in healthy, fun activities while learning skills," said County Executive Sara Innamorato. "I am especially grateful for the partnerships with our county parks department, county police, UPMC, and the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, which will help us make these camps even more impactful."
Pre-registration is recommended to guarantee that every child receives a lunch. Parents or guardians may register participants online at www.alleghenycounty.us/parkprograms or by calling 412-350-2455 at least 24 hours in advance of the mini-camp their children plan to attend. In case of inclement weather, call 412-350-2455 to confirm if a mini-camp is taking place.
