The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center has a packed December slate—and that’s in addition to showing blockbusters like Wicked and Moana 2. Let’s get right into it:
• Saturday, Dec. 7, 9:45 a.m.: The Lindsay has two sensory friendly screenings planned for December! The first will be a special showing of Moana 2, a Disney-animated musical that sends its titular heroine on another seafaring adventure. All tickets for this and every sensory-friendly screening at The Lindsay are discounted to $8.75.
• Thursday, Dec. 12, 7 p.m.: The Lindsay will also host two Emerging Filmmakers Showcases in December. The first is House of Tears, a locally filmed slasher set at a dinner party that quickly turns into a murder mystery. This free screening will be followed by a Q&A with writer-director Josh Poe and other members of the House of Tears filmmaking team.
• Friday, Dec. 13-Thursday, Dec. 26: Ring in the season with 14 days of Holiday Classics at The Lindsay! This year’s lineup includes It’s a Wonderful Life, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, We’re No Angels, White Christmas, A Christmas Story and The Polar Express. Tickets are on sale now!
• Saturday, Dec. 14, 6-9:30 p.m.: Locally based 3BT Productions is celebrating the magic of indie filmmaking at The Lindsay with Kaleidoscope: A 3BT Productions Extravaganza. This event will include food and drinks, sets and props from past 3BT films, updates on upcoming projects, and more fun surprises. Tickets are available for $15 via Posh.
• Sunday, Dec. 15, 1 p.m.: The Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club has partnered with The Lindsay for a one-time screening of We’re No Angels, a Humphrey Bogart comedy about three escaped convicts who are unexpectedly moved to help a kind shopkeeper and his family. Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club President Wendy Whittick will introduce this screening.
• Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3:30 p.m.; Monday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.: Fathom Events is bringing the Bing Crosby musical White Christmas back to theaters for its 70th anniversary. Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club Vice President Deann Davis will introduce the Dec. 15 screening.
• Sunday, Dec. 15, 8 p.m.: The Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project returns to The Lindsay for a showcase of locally produced 48 Hour films made for the Yes We Cannes Global Film Competition and Four Points Film Project. Tickets are on sale for $10 via Ticketbud.
• Thursday, Dec. 19, 7:30 p.m.: December’s second Emerging Filmmakers Showcase is Curtains for Christmas, a locally made horror film about a woman who will do whatever it takes to ensure her life is as perfect as her favorite holiday movies. This free screening will be followed by a Q&A with writer-director Steve Rudzinski and other cast and crew members.
• Saturday, Dec. 21, 10 a.m.: Sensory friendly screening No. 2 is Elf! This 2003 comedy stars Will Ferrell as Buddy, a human raised by elves who leaves the North Pole for New York City.
• Saturday, Dec. 21, 6:30 p.m.: The Lindsay has partnered with The Burgh Bus for a 6:30 p.m. Holiday Ride that will be immediately followed by a 7:30 p.m. Christmas Vacation screening. Tickets are available for $30 via burghbus.com.
