Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh Announces Updated Summer Hours

More to Explore for Youth 10+, Summer Free Day

June 16, 2023

From Tuesday, June 20, through late August, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh’s building for youth 10+ and teens, MuseumLab, will be open seven days a week, noon to 5 pm.

MuseumLab’s featured exhibit is Opposites Abstract: A Mo Willems Exhibit, which takes inspiration from the eye-popping, emotive and highly-accessible words and images of best-selling children’s book author/illustrator Mo Willems’ book, Opposites Abstract. The exhibit leads children and former children of all ages to explore the complicated yet simple concept of opposites though hands-on experiences, art making and performances.

Visitors to MuseumLab can also explore cutting-edge activities in art and making, and explore Gymlacium, a unique sculpture created from woven rope and the framework of the space’s former book shelves. Admission to MuseumLab is included as part of admission to the Children’s Museum. To learn more, visit museumlab.org

As part of its 40th birthday celebration, the Children’s Museum and MuseumLab will also host a blow-out summer free day with live music, circus arts and double dutch performers and lots of fun birthday activities on Saturday, June 24. Learn more at pittsburghkids.org/event/summer-free-day.

Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will be closed on Monday, June 19, in honor of Juneteenth, which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States.
